Over the years, the initiative has grown into a major annual gathering and is now widely regarded as one of the most influential literary events in West Africa.
In recognition of its cultural impact, UNESCO entrusted the organisers with hosting the World Book Capital programme in 2017.
As in past editions, the festival offers a rich and diverse programme, bringing together publishers and professionals from across the book industry – from literature and printing to related creative fields. Visitors can expect author readings, book launches, theatre productions, film screenings, and a wide range of cultural activities throughout the seventy-two hours of the event.
